Jesus is the Son of God

The expression ‘God the Son’ appears nowhere in the Bible, and it is therefore wrong to use it.   The opening verse of Mark’s gospel record tells us that Jesus Christ is the Son of God.   Before Jesus was born, his mother Mary was told that he would be called the Son of God – read Luke 1:35.  Jesus is not therefore God, but God’s Son.   Neither is Jesus equal to God.

The apostle Paul refers to Jesus as the Son of God in 2 Corinthians 2:19.   Read also 1 Corinthians 11:3, where Paul tells us that the head of Christ is God.   This clearly tells us that God and Jesus cannot be equal to one another.  If one is head over another, they cannot be equal to one another.

We read in 1 Corinthians 15.28 that God will have authority over Jesus in the Kingdom, as he has now.   It is not possible for one person in the Godhead to be subject to another, with all persons in the Godhead being co-equal.   That is not scripture teaching.

Read also 1 Timothy 2:5 where Paul refers to the man Christ Jesus who is a mediator between God and men.
